यदि ह्ुकामां सेवेत स्त्रियमन्यामपि ध्रुवम् । शतधास्य फलेन्मूर्था इत्युक्त: सो5भवत् पुरा,पूर्वकालमें रावणको यह शाप दिया गया था कि यदि यह उसे न चाहनेवाली किसी परायी स्त्रीका बलपूर्वक सेवन करेगा तो इसके मस्तकके सैकड़ों टुकड़े हो जायँगे
yadi hy akāmaṃ seveta striyam anyām api dhruvam | śatadhāsyā phalen mūrdhā ity uktaḥ so 'bhavat purā ||
Varuṇa nói: “Nếu hắn từng cưỡng ép một người đàn bà không ham muốn hắn—thật vậy, bất cứ người đàn bà nào khác—thì đầu hắn nhất định sẽ vỡ ra thành trăm mảnh.” Lời nguyền ấy đã được tuyên xuống Rāvaṇa từ thuở xưa.
