Sāvitrī’s Trirātra-Vrata and Departure with Satyavān (सावित्रीव्रतनिश्चयः सहगमनं च)

तस्याचचक्षे गन्धर्वो विश्वावसुरहं नूप । प्राप्तो ब्राह्मणशापेन योनिं राक्षससेविताम्‌,उसने कहा--'राजन्‌! मैं विश्वावसु नामक गन्धर्व हूँ। एक ब्राह्मणके शापसे इस राक्षसयोनिमें आ गया था--लंकावासी राक्षसराज रावणने आपकी पत्नी सीताका अपहरण किया है। आप वानरराज सुग्रीवसे मिलिये। वे आपकी सहायता करेंगे”

tasyācacakṣe gandharvo viśvāvasur ahaṃ nṛpa | prāpto brāhmaṇaśāpena yoniṃ rākṣasasevitām ||

Người ấy thưa: “Tâu Đại vương, ta là Gandharva tên Viśvāvasu. Vì lời nguyền của một brāhmaṇa, ta đã sa vào kiếp sinh làm loài rākṣasa, nơi bọn rākṣasa lui tới. Xin hãy biết: Rāvaṇa, vua rākṣasa ở Laṅkā, đã bắt cóc Sītā, hiền thê của ngài. Hãy đến kết minh với Sugrīva, chúa tể loài vānaras; người ấy sẽ trợ giúp ngài.”
