Draupadī’s Identification of the Pāṇḍavas and the Onset of the Chariot Engagement (द्रौपदी-पाण्डव-परिचयः)
मोक्षितश्चासि धर्मज्जै: पाण्डवैर्न च लज्जसे । “वीर! शत्रुओंने तुम्हें वहाँ बलपूर्वक बंदी बना लिया और धर्मज्ञ पाण्डवोंने तुम्हें उस संकटसे छुड़ाया है। क्या अब भी तुम्हें लज्जा नहीं आती?
mokṣitaścāsi dharmajñaiḥ pāṇḍavair na ca lajjase |
Vaiśampāyana nói: “Ngươi đã được các Pāṇḍava am tường dharma cứu thoát, vậy mà vẫn chẳng biết hổ thẹn. Kẻ thù đã dùng sức bắt ngươi làm tù binh; chính các Pāṇḍava đã giải ngươi khỏi cơn nguy ấy—lẽ nào đến nay ngươi vẫn không tự thẹn trong lòng?”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse underscores ethical self-awareness: when one is saved by righteous people, one should feel humility, gratitude, and a corrective sense of shame if one’s conduct has been dishonorable or unworthy of such help.
The speaker points out that the addressed person had been forcibly captured by enemies and then rescued by the Pāṇḍavas; despite this, the person shows no embarrassment or moral restraint, prompting a rebuke.
