अनदंश्ष॒ महाकाया दैत्या जलधरोपमा: । आसीच्च निश्चितं तेषां जितमस्माभिरित्युत,इधर विशालकाय दैत्य मेघोंके समान गम्भीर गर्जना करने लगे। उन्हें यह निश्चय हो गया कि “हमारी जीत होगी”
Anadaṁṣṭrā mahākāyā daityā jaladharopamāḥ | āsīc ca niścitaṁ teṣāṁ jitam asmābhir ity uta ||
Mārkaṇḍeya nói: Những Dāitya thân hình vĩ đại, dáng tựa mây mưa và không có nanh, bắt đầu gầm vang như sấm sâu. Trong lòng họ đã chắc chắn rằng: “Chiến thắng ắt thuộc về chúng ta.”
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
The verse highlights the moral danger of overconfidence in conflict: the Dāityas’ certainty of victory arises from pride in their own might, a mindset that often precedes downfall in epic narratives.
Mārkaṇḍeya describes a moment before or during battle when the gigantic Dāityas, cloud-like and thunderous, roar and become convinced that they will win.
