तमांसीव यथा सूर्यो वृक्षानग्निर्घनान् खग: । तथा स्कन्दो5जयच्छत्रून् स्वेन वीर्येण कीर्तिमान्,जैसे सूर्य अन्धकार मिटा देते हैं, आग वृक्षोंको जला डालती है और आकाशचारी वायु बादलोंको छिजन्न-भिन्न कर देती है, वैसे ही कीर्तिशाली कुमार कार्तिकेयने अपने पराक्रमद्वारा समस्त शत्रुओंको नष्ट करके उनपर विजय पायी
tamāṃsīva yathā sūryo vṛkṣān agnir ghanān khagaḥ | tathā skando 'jayac chatrūn svena vīryeṇa kīrtimān ||
Mārkaṇḍeya nói: “Như mặt trời xua tan bóng tối, như lửa thiêu rụi cây rừng, như gió lướt trời xé nát mây đen—cũng vậy, Skanda lừng danh đã dùng chính dũng lực của mình mà diệt kẻ thù và giành thắng lợi.”
