अशीलकश्चापि पुरुषो भूत्वा भवति शीलवान्‌ | प्राणिहिंसारतश्चापि भवते धार्मिक: पुन:,शीलसे रहित पुरुष भी कभी शीलवान्‌ हो जाता है। प्राणियोंकी हिंसामें अनुरक्त मनुष्य भी फिर धर्मात्मा हो जाता है

aśīlakaś cāpi puruṣo bhūtvā bhavati śīlavān | prāṇihiṃsārataś cāpi bhavate dhārmikaḥ punaḥ ||

Người thợ săn nói: Dẫu một kẻ không có hạnh kiểm tốt, theo thời gian vẫn có thể trở thành người có đức hạnh. Cũng vậy, dẫu kẻ say mê làm hại các loài hữu tình, rồi cũng có thể trở lại con đường chính trực. Lời dạy ấy nhấn mạnh sự chuyển hóa đạo đức: thói quen quá khứ không khiến đức hạnh trở thành điều bất khả, khi người ta quay về với dharma.
