Mahabharata 3.175.12Vana Parva, Adhyaya 175, Shloka 12

Bhīmasena’s Himalayan Hunt and Seizure by the Ajagara (भीमसेनस्य अजगरग्रहणम्)

Educational Q&A

True auspiciousness is divine grace earned through disciplined effort and reverent devotion: even martial excellence becomes ethically meaningful when it is aligned with humility and dharma, culminating in the Lord’s satisfaction rather than mere personal glory.

Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Arjuna, celebrating his extraordinary fortune: Arjuna has directly seen Śiva (Sthāṇu) together with Pārvatī and has pleased Śiva through his own combat prowess—an allusion to the Kirāta encounter where Śiva tests and then blesses him.
