ते कृता विमुखा: सर्वे मत्प्रयुक्त: शिलाशितै: । ततो मातलिना तूर्ण हयास्ते सम्प्रचोदिता:,मेरे छोड़े हुए बाण पत्थरपर तेज किये हुए थे। उनकी मार खाकर सभी दानव युद्धभूमिसे भाग चले। तब मातलि उस रथके घोड़ोंको तुरंत ही तीव्र वेगसे हाँका
arjuna uvāca | te kṛtā vimukhāḥ sarve matprayuktaiḥ śilāśitaiḥ | tato mātalinā tūrṇaṃ hayās te sampracoditāḥ ||
Arjuna nói: “Những mũi tên ta bắn ra—được mài trên đá—đã khiến tất cả chúng quay mặt bỏ chạy khỏi chiến địa. Khi ấy Mātali liền thúc ngựa của cỗ xe ấy, phóng đi với tốc độ lớn.”
अजुन उवाच
The verse highlights disciplined martial competence and coordinated action: Arjuna’s effective, well-prepared weaponry compels the enemy to retreat, and Mātali’s prompt driving sustains momentum—an ethical model of focused duty (kṣatriya-dharma) executed without hesitation.
Arjuna reports that his stone-whetted arrows force all the foes to turn back and flee. Immediately afterward, Mātali, acting as charioteer, urges the horses forward quickly, pressing the advantage in the ongoing combat.
