Ṛśyaśṛṅgopākhyāna-praveśaḥ — Lomāśa narrates the origins of Ṛśyaśṛṅga and the Anga drought (ऋश्यशृङ्गोपाख्यान-प्रवेशः)
ततो नन्दाप्लुताड्स्त्वं कौशिकीमभियास्यसि । विश्वामित्रेण यत्रोग्रं तपस्तप्तमनुत्तमम्,ननन््दामें गोता लगानेके पश्चात् तुम्हें कौशिकीके तटपर चलना होगा जहाँ महर्षि विश्वामित्रजीने उत्तम एवं उग्र तपस्या की थी
tato nandāplutāḍs tvaṃ kauśikīm abhiyāsyasi | viśvāmitreṇa yatrograṃ tapas taptaṃ anuttamam ||
Lomasa nói: “Sau khi ngài đã tắm ở sông Nandā, ngài nên tiến đến bờ sông Kauśikī. Nơi ấy, hiền triết Viśvāmitra từng thực hành khổ hạnh (tapas) vô song, vừa tối thượng vừa nghiêm khắc.”
लोगमश उवाच
The verse underscores that purification and spiritual progress are supported by tirtha-yatra (pilgrimage) and, more importantly, by tapas—disciplined effort and self-restraint—exemplified by Viśvāmitra’s intense austerities.
Lomasa is directing the travelers on a pilgrimage route: after bathing in the Nandā, they are to go to the Kauśikī riverbank, a place sanctified by Viśvāmitra’s renowned ascetic practice.
