उद्योगपर्व — अध्याय ५४: दुर्योधनस्य धृतराष्ट्रं प्रति बलप्रशंसन-युक्तः आश्वासनवादः
Duryodhana’s Reassurance and Force-Praise to Dhritarashtra
उन्होंने मेरे लिये अनन्त क्लेश और दुःख सहन किये हैं।' नरश्रेष्ठ पिताजी! आपके पुत्रों तथा मेरे भाइयोंने केवल मेरी प्रसन्नताके लिये शत्रुओंको सदा ही सताया है; ये सब बातें आप पहलेसे ही जानते हैं ।। ते राज्ञो धृतराष्ट्रस्य सामात्यस्य महारथा: । वैरं प्रतिकरिष्यन्ति कुलोच्छेदेन पाण्डवा:,“इसलिये वे महारथी पाण्डव मन्त्रियोंसहित महाराज धृतराष्ट्रके कुलका समूलोच्छेद करके अपने वैरका बदला लेंगे”
ananta-kleśa-duḥkhāni mayi te sahitāni vai | naraśreṣṭha pitā tāta tava putraiś ca me bhrātṛbhiḥ kevalaṁ mama prasādanārthaṁ śatravaḥ satataṁ pīḍitāḥ | etat sarvaṁ tvayā pūrvam eva viditam || te rājño dhṛtarāṣṭrasya sāmātyasya mahārathāḥ | vairam pratikariṣyanti kulocchedena pāṇḍavāḥ ||
Duryodhana nói: “Vì ta mà họ đã chịu đựng khổ đau và sầu muộn vô tận. Hỡi phụ vương, bậc tối thượng trong loài người! Các con trai của người—những anh em của ta—đã không ngừng quấy nhiễu, áp bức kẻ thù chỉ để làm vừa lòng ta; người đã biết tất cả từ trước. Vì thế, những dũng sĩ xa chiến vĩ đại là các Pāṇḍava, cùng các đại thần của họ, sẽ trả thù bằng cách nhổ tận gốc toàn bộ dòng dõi của vua Dhṛtarāṣṭra.”
