धृतराष्ट्रस्य वंशोपदेशः

Dhṛtarāṣṭra’s Dynastic Counsel on Legitimate Rule

प्रातीप: शान्तनुस्तात कुलस्यार्थे यथा स्थित: । यथा देवब्रतो भीष्म: कुलस्यार्थे स्थितो5भवत्‌

Transliteration

Pratīpaḥ Śāntanus tāta kulasyārthe yathā sthitaḥ | yathā Devavrato Bhīṣmaḥ kulasyārthe sthito 'bhavat ||

Translation

Thần Vāyu nói: “Hỡi con yêu, như Pratīpa và Śāntanu đã đứng vững vì lợi ích của dòng tộc, thì Devavrata—Bhīṣma—cũng đã đứng vững vì nhà Kuru. Sự vĩ đại của họ ở chỗ này: họ đặt dục vọng riêng xuống dưới, để phụng sự điều thiện lâu bền của vương tộc và dharma của nó.”
