Droṇa–Vidura–Gāndhārī Counsel in the Royal Assembly (धर्मार्थयुक्ता सभा-उपदेश-प्रकरणम्)
वायुदेव उवाच मया नागपुरं गत्वा सभायां धृतराष्ट्रज: | तथ्यं पथ्यं हितं चोक्तो न च गृह्नाति दुर्मति:
vāyudeva uvāca | mayā nāgapuraṃ gatvā sabhāyāṃ dhṛtarāṣṭrajaḥ | tathyaṃ pathyaṃ hitaṃ cokto na ca gṛhṇāti durmatiḥ ||
Vāyudeva nói: “Ta đã đến Nāgapura (Hastināpura) và, giữa triều đình, đã nói với con trai của Dhṛtarāṣṭra những lời chân thật, đúng đạo, và lợi ích. Thế nhưng kẻ lòng dạ ác độc ấy vẫn không chịu tiếp nhận.”

Even when counsel is true (tathya), wholesome (pathya), and beneficial (hita), a person ruled by durmati—distorted judgment and stubborn ego—may refuse it. Ethical guidance requires not only a wise speaker but also a receptive mind; rejection of good counsel becomes a moral cause leading toward ruin.
