Educational Q&A

The verse primarily uses auspicious natural imagery—an elevated, encircling lotus around a central lotus-grove—to evoke order, beauty, and protected centrality. In Mahābhārata-style narration, such imagery often frames moments of counsel and moral reflection, implying that true worth (śubha) stands at the center and is safeguarded by restraint and right arrangement.

Śalya is describing a lake scene: at its center lies a large, beautiful lotus-grove, surrounded by a great pale lotus with a high stalk. It is a vivid setting-detail within his speech, building atmosphere and symbolic resonance.
