Udyoga Parva, Adhyāya 13: Śacī’s Delay, Deva-Counsel, and Indra’s Purification
अकम्पन्नहुषं स्थानाद् दृष्टवा बलनिषूदन: । तेजोघ्नं सर्वभूतानां वरदानाच्च दुःसहम्,परंतु बल नामक दानवका नाश करनेवाले इन्द्र जब अपना स्थान ग्रहण करनेके लिये स्वर्गलोकमें आये, तब उन्होंने देखा--नहुष देवताओंके वरदानसे अपनी दृष्टिमात्रसे समस्त प्राणियोंके तेजको नष्ट करनेमें समर्थ और दुःसह हो गया है। यह देखकर वे काँप उठे
akampan nahuṣaṁ sthānād dṛṣṭvā balanīṣūdanaḥ | tejoghnam sarvabhūtānāṁ varadānāc ca duḥsaham ||
Indra, kẻ diệt ác ma Bala, trở về thiên giới để ngồi lại ngôi vị của mình. Nhưng tại đó, ngài thấy Nahusha—nhờ ân huệ chư thiên mà trở nên khó ai chịu nổi, và chỉ bằng một ánh nhìn cũng có thể dập tắt hào quang cùng sinh lực của mọi loài. Thấy vậy, Indra rúng động vì sợ hãi.
