Adhyāya 128 — Proposal to Restrain Keśava; Sātyaki’s Warning and Vidura–Dhṛtarāṣṭra Counsel
स एष काममन्युभ्यां प्रलब्धो लोभमास्थित:
sa eṣa kāma-manyubhyāṃ pralabdho lobham āsthitaḥ
Vaiśampāyana nói: “Người ấy bị dục vọng (kāma) và phẫn nộ (manyu) lừa dắt, rồi nương tựa vào lòng tham (lobha).”
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Unchecked desire (kāma) and anger (manyu) cloud judgment and ‘deceive’ a person into embracing greed (lobha), which undermines dharma and becomes a driver of harmful decisions.
The narrator Vaiśampāyana characterizes a person’s moral state, explaining that the individual’s conduct is being propelled by desire and anger, culminating in a settled posture of greed—an ethical explanation for escalating wrongdoing and strife.
