Gālava’s Eastern Ascent with Garuḍa; Counsel on Kāla and Upāya

Educational Q&A

Wealth becomes ethically meaningful when it is used in accordance with dharma—especially through generous giving and socially beneficial distribution. Renown is presented as arising from righteous use of resources, not mere possession.

Yuparṇa recounts that a great sage requested wealth, distributed it among Brāhmaṇas, and sought a boon that the wealth be known by his name; consequently it became famous as ‘Jaimūta.’
