कण्व उवाच मातलिस्त्वेकमव्यग्र: सततं संनिरीक्ष्य वै पप्रच्छ नारदं तत्र प्रीतिमानिव चाभवत्‌

Transliteration

kaṇva uvāca | mātalis tv ekam avyagraḥ satataṃ saṃnirīkṣya vai papraccha nāradaṃ tatra prītimān iva cābhavat |

Translation

Kaṇva nói: Bấy giờ Mātali, tâm không xao lãng, cứ chăm chú quan sát một vị nāga. Dường như lòng vui thích, ông liền hỏi Nārada ngay tại đó—sự tò mò và niềm mãn nguyện cho thấy điều ông thấy mang ý nghĩa vượt quá vẻ bề ngoài.
