Adhyāya 6: Vidura’s Saṃsāra-Upamā
The Allegory of the Well, Time, and Desire

Vidura nói: “Xin hãy kể cho ta rõ ràng mọi điều. Rồi chúng ta sẽ lập tức dốc hết nỗ lực đúng đắn để đưa ông ấy ra khỏi nơi đó. Quả thật, trong ta đã dấy lên lòng từ mẫn lớn lao vì sự cứu độ của ông ấy.”
विदुर उवाच
Compassion should move one toward timely, well-directed effort: Vidura’s kṛpā is not passive emotion but becomes sādhu-ceṣṭā—proper, ethical action aimed at rescuing someone in distress.
Vidura asks for a full, clear report of the situation and declares that, once informed, they will immediately attempt to extract and save the person who is trapped or endangered, because he feels strong compassion for that person’s deliverance.
