उतथ्य उवाच
Steadfastness in one’s own rightful duty (svadharma) is presented as the reliable cause of accomplishing one’s aims (artha-siddhi). Dharma is not merely personal piety; it is portrayed as an auspicious, welfare-producing norm that others naturally recognize and follow.
In Śānti Parva’s instruction on righteous living after the war, the sage Utathya speaks as a moral teacher, emphasizing that observable success and social harmony arise when people adhere to their proper duties, and that such dharma becomes a model for the wider world.
