नन्दामि व: प्रभावेण पुत्राणामिव चोदये । यथाशक्त्युपगृह्नामि राष्ट्स्यापीडया च व:
nandāmi vaḥ prabhāveṇa putrāṇām iva codaye | yathāśakty upagṛhṇāmi rāṣṭrasyāpīḍayā ca vaḥ ||
Bhishma nói: “Ta vui mừng trước thế lực đang lớn mạnh của các vị, như người cha hân hoan khi con trai thăng tiến. Nhưng vì nỗi khốn khó đang đè nặng lên vương quốc, lúc này ta chỉ nhận sự đóng góp từ các vị theo đúng khả năng—để dân trong cõi không phải chịu khổ.”
