न हाभक्ताय राजेन्द्र भक्तायानृजवे न च । दर्शयाम्यहमात्मानं न चाशान्ताय भारत

Transliteration

na hābhaktāya rājendra bhaktāyānṛjave na ca | darśayāmy aham ātmānaṁ na cāśāntāya bhārata | arhastvaṁ bhīṣma māṁ draṣṭuṁ tapasā svena pārthiva | tava hy upasthitā lokā yebhyo nāvartate punaḥ ||

Translation

Vāyu nói: “Hỡi Đại vương, ta không tự hiện cho kẻ không có lòng sùng tín; cũng không hiện cho kẻ có sùng tín mà lòng không ngay thẳng; và ta cũng không hiện cho kẻ tâm không an tịnh, hỡi Bhārata. Nhưng ngươi, Bhīṣma, nhờ sức mạnh khổ hạnh (tapas) của chính mình, xứng đáng được thấy ta, hỡi bậc quân vương. Vì ngươi, các thế giới đã được chuẩn bị sẵn—những cõi trời thiêng liêng mà một khi đến rồi thì không còn trở lại cõi này nữa.”
