Bhīṣma on the Śara-Śayyā: Yudhiṣṭhira and Kṛṣṇa Approach the Eldest for Śānti
Vaiśampāyana uvāca: upāsyamānaṁ munibhir devair iva śatakratum | deśe paramadharmiṣṭhe nadīm oghavatīm anu ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: Như chư thiên hầu cận Śatakratu (Indra), cũng vậy, nhiều bậc hiền triết ngồi hầu bên Ngài, trên bờ sông Oghavatī, tại nơi lừng danh vì đức hạnh tối thượng.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights that the highest form of authority is grounded in dharma: the worthy are honored through reverent attendance, just as the gods honor Indra—suggesting that moral stature naturally draws disciplined respect.
Vaiśampāyana describes a scene where many sages are seated near a revered figure in a supremely righteous place on the bank of the Oghavatī river, attending upon him with the same reverence the gods show to Indra.
