भीष्मजी कहते हैं--युधिष्ठिर! नारदजीकी बात सुनकर परम धर्मज्ञ व्यासजीने “बहुत अच्छा” कहकर उनकी आज्ञा स्वीकार की और हर्षमें भरकर वे वेदाभ्यासरूपी व्रतका दृढ़तापूर्वक पालन करने लगे ।।
bhīṣma uvāca— yudhiṣṭhira! nāradasya vacaḥ śrutvā paramadharmajño vyāsaḥ “sādhu” iti uktvā tasyājñāṃ pratijagrāha, harṣeṇa ca samāviṣṭaḥ san vedābhyāsarūpaṃ vrataṃ dṛḍhatayā samācacāra. śukena saha putreṇa vedābhyāsam athākarot; svareṇoccaiḥ sa śaikṣyeṇa lokān āpūrayann iva.
Bhishma nói: “Hỡi Yudhishthira, sau khi nghe lời Narada, Vyasa—bậc thấu triệt tối thượng về dharma—khen rằng ‘Hay lắm’ và thuận theo lời chỉ dạy của Narada. Tràn đầy hoan hỷ, ngài kiên quyết thọ giữ lời nguyện là sự học tập và tụng đọc Veda một cách nghiêm cẩn. Rồi cùng với con trai là Shuka, ngài bắt đầu thực hành việc tụng lặp Veda; cất giọng cao, đúng thanh điệu theo quy tắc của śikṣā (khoa học phát âm), ngài như thể đang làm vang đầy ba cõi bằng âm thanh ấy.”
