Śuka’s Guṇa-Transcendence and Vyāsa’s Consolation (शुकगति-वर्णनम्)

प्रिय अथवा अप्रियमें, दुर्बल अथवा बलवानमें जिसकी समदृष्टि नहीं है, उसमें मुक्तका क्या लक्षण है? ।।

tad-ayuktasya te mokṣe yo 'bhimāno bhaven nṛpa | suhṛd-dhiḥ saṃnivāryas te viraktasyeva bheṣajam ||

Bhīṣma nói: Tâu đại vương, nếu bệ hạ chưa thật sự được rèn luyện trong yoga mà lại sinh lòng tự phụ rằng mình đã đạt giải thoát, thì chính ý niệm ấy phải được những người thân tín ngăn lại—như người ta ngừng thuốc đối với kẻ bệnh không chịu giữ đúng phép kiêng khem. Vì nếu không có cái nhìn bình đẳng trước điều ưa và điều ghét, trước kẻ yếu và kẻ mạnh, thì lấy đâu ra dấu hiệu của tự do?
