युक्तोडपि नित्यधर्मश्न न वै स्वर्गमवाप्स्यसि । उस बातको समझकर मामा नारदजी भी कुपित हो उठे और उन्होंने अपने भानजे पर्वतको शाप देते हुए कहा--“अरे! तू तपस्या
yukto 'pi nityadharmajña na vai svargam avāpsyasi |
“Dẫu ngươi có kỷ luật và hằng biết đạo (dharma), ngươi cũng sẽ không đạt được cõi trời.” Hiểu điều ấy, Nārada—được gọi là “cậu bên ngoại”—liền nổi giận và, khi nguyền rủa người cháu Parvata, đã tuyên bố rằng: “Này! Dẫu ngươi có khổ hạnh, phạm hạnh, chân thật và chế ngự các căn, lại luôn chuyên cần theo đạo, ngươi cũng sẽ không thể đến được thiên giới.”
