परिव्राजक-आचारः (Conduct of the Wandering Renunciant) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 269
वे अपने-अपने कर्मोसे ही परिपुष्ट थे। उनकी तपस्या घोर रूप धारण कर चुकी थी। वे आश्चर्यजनक सदाचारका पालन करते थे और उसका उन्हें पुरातन, शाश्वत एवं अविनाशी ब्रह्मरूप फल प्राप्त होता था ।।
te sva-sva-karmabhir eva paripuṣṭāḥ; teṣāṁ tapasā ghora-rūpaṁ dhṛtam; te āścaryaṁ sad-ācāraṁ caranti sma, yasya tebhyaḥ purātanaṁ śāśvataṁ cāvināśi brahma-rūpaṁ phalaṁ prāpyate. dharmeṣu yat kiñcid sūkṣmatā, tām anuṣṭhātuṁ bahavo ’śaknuvanti. vastutaḥ vedokta ācāro dharmaś ca nirāpadaḥ; na tatra pramādo ’sti na ca parābhavaḥ.
Kapila nói: “Họ được nuôi dưỡng và thêm vững mạnh bởi chính bổn phận (dharma) của mỗi người. Khổ hạnh của họ đã mang lấy sức mạnh ghê gớm. Họ thực hành một kỷ luật thiện hạnh kỳ diệu, và từ đó đạt được quả báo cổ xưa, vĩnh cửu, bất hoại—chính là Phạm (Brahman). Nhưng sự vi tế ẩn trong dharma là điều mà nhiều người không thể đem ra thực hành. Thật vậy, hạnh và dharma do Veda truyền dạy vốn không có hiểm nguy: trong đó không có sự lơ là, cũng không có thất bại.”
