Educational Q&A

Properly living the householder’s life—sustaining oneself through righteous conduct and livelihood, without inner agitation—has far-reaching moral and spiritual impact, extending purification and uplift to both ancestors and future descendants.

In Śānti Parva’s instruction on dharma, Vyāsa is explaining the power and dignity of gṛhastha-dharma, stating that a householder who maintains these prescribed ways of living becomes a source of purification for the lineage across ten generations backward and forward.
