Educational Q&A

A brāhmaṇa’s prescribed way of life is not merely external livelihood but principled conduct: when duties are performed with jñāna (clear understanding and discernment), they become effective and lead to accomplishment in all contexts.

In the Śānti Parva’s instruction on dharma, Vyāsa states a normative rule: he affirms an anciently established brāhmaṇa-vṛtti and emphasizes that knowledge-guided action is what brings success, framing ethical livelihood as inseparable from wisdom.
