Educational Q&A

That generous giving (dāna), especially go-dāna—donating cows with calves as a sustaining and compassionate gift—constitutes powerful dharma that yields great spiritual merit and leads to exalted realms.

Vyāsa cites King Prasenajit as an exemplar: by donating one hundred thousand cows along with their calves, the king gains the reward of attaining the highest worlds, illustrating the fruit of righteous charity.
