आत्मदर्शन-उपदेशः (Ātma-darśana Upadeśa) — Mind, Senses, and the All-pervading Self
अन्य युगोंमें शास्त्रोक्त धर्मका क्रमश: एक-एक चरण क्षीण होता जाता है और चोरी, असत्य तथा छल-कपट आदिके द्वारा अधर्मकी वृद्धि होने लगती है ।।
anye yugeṣu śāstroktasya dharmasya kramaśa ekaikaḥ pādaḥ kṣīyate, cauryānṛta-chala-kapaṭādibhiś cādharmasya vṛddhir bhavati. arogāḥ sarva-siddhārthāś catur-varṣa-śatāyuṣaḥ kṛte; tretā-yuge tv eṣāṃ pādaśo hrasate vayaḥ.
Vyāsa giải thích rằng khi thế gian chuyển qua các thời đại nối tiếp, trật tự dharma do kinh điển quy định sẽ lần lượt mất đi từng chỗ dựa. Khi trộm cắp, dối trá và lừa lọc lan rộng, adharma cũng theo đó mà tăng trưởng. Trong Kṛta (Satya) Yuga, con người không bệnh tật, mọi mục đích đều thành tựu và sống bốn trăm năm; khi Tretā Yuga đến, thọ mạng giảm một phần tư, và cứ thế tiếp tục suy giảm trong các thời đại về sau.
