Educational Q&A

Equanimity removes partiality and aversion; coupled with speech that is agreeable and non-provocative, it naturally earns respect and harmony in society.

Vāyudeva is describing the marks of a balanced, virtuous person: one who maintains sameness toward all, harbors neither favoritism nor dislike, and speaks in a way that aligns with and soothes the listener’s mind—hence being honored everywhere.
