ब्राह्मणस्य पूर्वतरा वृत्तिः — The Earlier Ideal Conduct of a Brahmana

इदं तु लब्ध्वा संस्थानमात्मानं बहु मन्यसे । सर्वभूतभवं देवं ब्रह्माणमिव शाश्वतम्‌

idaṁ tu labdhvā saṁsthānam ātmānaṁ bahu manyase | sarvabhūtabhavaṁ devaṁ brahmāṇam iva śāśvatam ||

Bhīṣma nói: “Đã đạt được địa vị này và mang lấy thân phận hữu hình, ngươi tự tôn quá mức—như thể ngươi là Brahmā vĩnh cửu, vị thần sinh ra muôn loài. Nhưng quyền chủ tể này của ngươi chưa từng chứng tỏ là bất động hay trường tồn đến vô tận: nhiều kẻ đã nắm giữ rồi ra đi. Chỉ vì trí tuệ mê lầm của chính ngươi mà ngươi tưởng nó thật sự thuộc về mình.”
