Manifest–Unmanifest Discrimination and the Supreme Path of Withdrawal
तदिदं ब्रह्म वाष्णेयमितिहासं शृणुष्व मे । ब्राह्मणो ब्राह्मुणै: श्राव्यो राजन्य: क्षत्रियैस्तथा
tad idaṁ brahma vārṣṇeyam itihāsaṁ śṛṇuṣva me | brāhmaṇo brāhmaṇaiḥ śrāvyo rājanyaḥ kṣatriyais tathā ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Nay hãy nghe từ ta bản tích thiêng liêng này, gắn với dòng Vārṣṇeya. Một brāhmaṇa nên tụng đọc cho các brāhmaṇa, và một kṣatriya (rājanya) cũng vậy, nên tụng đọc cho các kṣatriya.”
भीष्म उवाच
Sacred knowledge (brahma/itihāsa) should be transmitted responsibly within appropriate circles, emphasizing disciplined preservation and proper recitation according to social-ritual norms.
Bhīṣma introduces a holy account associated with the Vārṣṇeya (Vṛṣṇi) tradition and states who should recite it to whom, setting the frame for the teaching that follows.
