Śānti-parva 206: Guṇa-hetu Moha, Kāma-krodha Chain, Indriya-utpatti, and Nirodha

Educational Q&A

Liberation is presented as an inner purification sequence: knowledge clarifies the intellect, the clarified intellect steadies the mind, and the steady mind disciplines the senses. With desirelessness and detachment, one can approach the imperishable, attributeless Supreme Self.

In the Shanti Parva’s instruction section, Bhishma continues advising Yudhishthira on the path of peace and liberation after the war, using the analogy of wind kindling fire hidden in fuel to illustrate how disciplined practice reveals the Supreme already present within.
