ब्राह्मण उवाच कृतः प्रयत्न: सुमहान्‌ सर्वेषां संनिधाविह । सह तुल्यफलावावं गच्छावो यत्र नौ गति:

brāhmaṇa uvāca | kṛtaḥ prayatnaḥ sumahān sarveṣāṁ saṁnidhāv iha | saha tulyaphalāv āvāṁ gacchāvo yatra nau gatiḥ ||

Vị bà-la-môn nói: “Tâu Đại vương, ngay tại đây, trước mặt mọi người, tôi đã dốc sức rất lớn để dâng lên ngài quả của khổ hạnh và japa của tôi. Nhưng ngài vẫn khăng khăng rằng chúng ta phải cùng thọ hưởng kết quả ấy. Vậy thì, xin cho cả hai chúng ta đều là những người chia phần ngang nhau trong cùng một công đức. Nào—hãy cùng đi, xa đến đâu tùy theo số mệnh cho phép.”
