Jñāna-yoga and Karma-phala: Manu–Bṛhaspati on Akṣara and the Limits of Mantra
ज्ञानपूर्वकृतं पापं छादयत्यबहुश्रुत: । नैनं मनुष्या: पश्यन्ति पश्यन्त्येव दिवौकस:
jñānapūrvakṛtaṃ pāpaṃ chādayaty abahuśrutaḥ | nainaṃ manuṣyāḥ paśyanti paśyanty eva divaukasaḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: Kẻ ngu muội, ít học mới tìm cách che giấu tội lỗi đã cố ý gây ra. Dẫu người đời không nhận ra điều sai trái ấy, chư thiên—những bậc ở cõi trời—ắt hẳn thấy rõ. Lời dạy này khẳng định rằng tội cố ý không thể thật sự che đậy, và trách nhiệm đạo đức vượt ngoài tầm quan sát của con người.
