Ajagara-vrata (The ‘Python’ Discipline): Prahrāda Questions a Wandering Sage

पृष्टश्न गोत्रचरणं स्वाध्यायं ब्रह्मचारिकम्‌ । न तत्र व्याजहारान्यद्‌ गोत्रमात्रादृते द्विज:

pṛṣṭaś ca gotracaraṇaṃ svādhyāyaṃ brahmacārikam | na tatra vyājahārānyad gotramātrād ṛte dvijaḥ ||

Bhīṣma nói: Khi bị hỏi về dòng họ (gotra), về chi phái Veda, về kỷ luật và việc tự học (svādhyāya) mà ông đã thực hành trong thời kỳ giữ phạm hạnh (brahmacarya), người “hai lần sinh” ấy không nói gì khác ngoài việc nêu tên dòng họ của mình. (Như vậy, ông đã che giấu những chi tiết khác về học vấn và hạnh kiểm.)
