मृत्यु-काल-प्रबोधनम् (Instruction on Mortality, Time, and Truth) — Mahābhārata, Śānti-parva 169
दुःशीलो5थाकृतात्मा च नृशंस: कितवस्तथा । मित्रैरपकृतिर्नित्यमिच्छते<र्थ परस्य य:
duḥśīlo ’thākṛtātmā ca nṛśaṁsaḥ kitavas tathā | mitrair apakṛtir nityam icchate ’rthaṁ parasya yaḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Kẻ vô lễ và không tự rèn, tàn nhẫn và phản trắc, kẻ cờ bạc, kẻ luôn làm hại bạn bè và lúc nào cũng ham chiếm đoạt của cải người khác—tuyệt đối không nên kết minh. Cũng vậy, kẻ quen thói tìm lỗi người khác thì không xứng để lập giao ước. Nay ta sẽ nói về những người đáng để kết minh; hãy nghe.”
