कपोती-विलापः स्वर्गसंयोगश्च

यह भी सुना जाता है कि एक कबूतरने शरणमें आये हुए शत्रुका यथायोग्य सत्कार किया था और अपना मांस खानेके लिये उसको निमन्त्रित किया था ।। युधिछिर उवाच कथं कपोतेन पुरा शत्रु: शरणमागत: । स्वमांसं भोजित: कां च गति लेभे स भारत,युधिष्ठिरने पूछा--भरतनन्दन! प्राचीनकालमें कबूतरने शरणागत शत्रुको किस प्रकार अपना मांस खिलाया और ऐसा करनेसे उसे कौन-सी सदगति प्राप्त हुई
yudhiṣṭhira uvāca | kathaṃ kapotena purā śatruḥ śaraṇam āgataḥ | svamāṃsaṃ bhojitaḥ kāṃ ca gatiṃ lebhe sa bhārata ||
Yudhiṣṭhira thưa: “Hỡi hậu duệ Bharata, thuở xưa con bồ câu đã đón nhận kẻ thù đến cầu nương tựa như thế nào, lại còn cho ăn chính thịt mình ra sao? Và nhờ việc ấy, nó đạt được cảnh giới phúc lành nào?”
