अथ बन्धपरिक्लिष्टो मार्जारो वीक्ष्य मूषिकम् । छिन्दन्तं वै तदा पाशानत्वरन्तं त्वरान्वित:
atha bandha-parikliṣṭo mārjāro vīkṣya mūṣikam | chindantaṃ vai tadā pāśān atvarantaṃ tvarānvitāḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: Khi ấy con mèo, khổ sở vì bị trói buộc, thấy con chuột đang gặm cắt các dây thòng lọng. Nhưng nhận ra chuột không làm cho mau, con mèo—bị cơn gấp gáp thúc bách—liền lên tiếng giục, ép nó cắt dây nhanh hơn.
