Apaddharma Determination: Dialogue of Viśvāmitra and the Śvapaca
प्रत्युपकुर्वन् बह्मपि न भाति पूर्वोपकारिणा तुल्य: । एक: करोति हि कृते निष्कारणमेव कुरुतेडन्य:
pratyupakurvan bahum api na bhāti pūrvopakāriṇā tulyāḥ | ekaḥ karoti hi kṛte niṣkāraṇam eva karoty anyaḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Dẫu có người đền đáp ân nghĩa gấp bội, vẫn không thể rạng danh ngang với kẻ đã ban ân trước. Bởi một người làm điều thiện chỉ để đáp lại điều đã được làm cho mình; còn người kia đã làm điều lành không vì nguyên cớ nào—tự nguyện, không ai cầu xin.”
