Daṇḍotpatti-kathana (Origin and Function of Daṇḍa) — वसुहोम–मान्धातृ संवाद
शास्त्र ब्राह्मणमन्त्राश्व॒ शास्ता प्राग्वदतां वर: । धर्मपालो5क्षरो देव: सत्यगो नित्यगोडग्रज:
śāstra-brāhmaṇa-mantrāśva śāstā prāg-vadatāṃ varaḥ | dharma-pālo 'kṣaro devaḥ satya-go nitya-go 'grajaḥ ||
Bhīṣma nói: “Ngài là bậc chỉ đạo tối thượng, bậc ưu việt nhất trong những lời truyền dạy từ thuở xưa—gìn giữ uy quyền của kinh điển, sự tôn nghiêm của Bà-la-môn, và sức mạnh của thần chú. Ngài là người hộ trì dharma, đấng thần linh bất hoại, luôn vận hành trong chân thật và luôn kiên định—bậc trưởng thượng đứng đầu.”
