Daṇḍotpatti-kathana (Origin and Function of Daṇḍa) — वसुहोम–मान्धातृ संवाद
अपि चैतत् पुरा राजन् मनुना प्रोक्तमादित:
api caitat purā rājan manunā proktam āditaḥ
Bhīṣma nói: “Hơn nữa, hỡi Đại vương, chính nguyên tắc này đã được Manu dạy từ thuở ban đầu: khi bậc quân vương giữ tâm bình đẳng trước điều vừa ý và trái ý, không thiên vị ai, thi hành hình phạt một cách chuẩn xác, đồng thời bảo hộ dân chúng chu đáo—thì việc trị nước ấy chẳng gì khác ngoài dharma.”
