तमब्रवीन्महाराज वासुदेवो जनाधिपम् । आर्तायनिमहं जाने यथातत्त्वेन भारत
tam abravīn mahārāja vāsudevo janādhipam | ārtāyanim ahaṁ jāne yathātattvena bhārata iti satyaṁ bravīmy eṣa duryodhana na saṁśayaḥ ||
Sañjaya nói: Hỡi đại vương, Vāsudeva (Śrī Kṛṣṇa) nói với bậc chúa tể loài người: “Hỡi Bhārata, ta biết Ārtāyani (Śalya) đúng như bản tính thật của ông ta.”
संजय उवाच
The verse foregrounds truthful counsel and accurate discernment of character: Kṛṣṇa asserts that he knows Śalya “as he truly is,” implying that strategy and leadership in war must be grounded in reality rather than wishful thinking or flattery.
Sañjaya reports to Dhṛtarāṣṭra that Kṛṣṇa addresses Duryodhana directly, emphasizing the certainty of his statement and declaring his clear knowledge of Śalya (Ārtāyani), setting up guidance about Śalya’s role and reliability in the unfolding battle context.
