सर्वाश्नास्य क्रियाश्षक्रे विधिदृष्टेन कर्मणा । 'भगवन्‌! मैं मोक्षधर्मका आश्रय लेना चाहता हूँ।” उनकी वह बात सुनकर महातपस्वी जैगीषव्यने उनका संन्यास लेनेका विचार जानकर उन्हें ज्ञानका उपदेश किया। साथ ही योगकी उत्तम विधि बताकर शास्त्रके अनुसार कर्तव्य-अकर्तव्यका भी उपदेश दिया। इतना ही नहीं

sarvāśnāsya kriyāś cakre vidhidṛṣṭena karmaṇā | saṃnyāsakṛtabuddhiṃ taṃ bhūtāni pitṛbhiḥ saha ||

Vaiśampāyana nói: Ngài đã cử hành đầy đủ mọi nghi lễ cần thiết, thực hiện đúng theo nghi thức được kinh điển chuẩn nhận. Khi tâm đã quyết chí xuất ly (saṃnyāsa), ông trở thành người mà muôn loài—cùng với các Pitṛ (linh hồn tổ tiên)—đều nhìn nhận theo sự chuyển hóa thiêng liêng ấy.
