ययौ दैत्यविनाशाय ह्वादयन् सुरपुड्गवान् । तदनन्तर अपने पार्षदों तथा मातृकागणोंके साथ कुमार कार्तिकेयने देवेश्वरोंको आनन्द प्रदान करते हुए दैत्योंके विनाशके लिये प्रस्थान किया ।।
yayau daityavināśāya hvādayan surapuṅgavān | tadanantaraṁ svapārṣadaiḥ saha mātṛkāgaṇaiś ca kumāraḥ kārtikeyaḥ deveśvarān ānandayann daityānāṁ vināśāya prasthitaḥ ||
Vaiśampāyana nói: Nhằm tiêu diệt bọn Daitya, ngài lên đường, làm hoan hỷ những bậc tối thượng trong hàng chư thiên. Sau đó, Kumāra Kārtikeya—cùng các tùy thần và đoàn Mātṛkā—ra đi để đem niềm vui cho các Thiên chủ và hoàn thành sự diệt vong của đạo quân Daitya. Đoạn này đặt cuộc chinh phạt trong khuôn khổ bảo hộ và bổn phận: tinh thần chư thiên được củng cố, còn sức hủy diệt được hướng vào kẻ đe dọa trật tự vũ trụ.
