कुमाराभिषेकप्रश्नः — Inquiry into Kumāra (Skanda) Investiture at Sarasvatī

वधिष्याम्यसुरश्रेष्ठ सखे सत्येन ते शपे । पहलेकी बात है

Transliteration

vadhīṣyāmy asuraśreṣṭha sakhe satyena te śape | pūrvasya vṛttānto 'yaṃ—namucir indrasya bhayād ādityaraśmiṣu samāviśat | tata indreṇa saha tasya sakhyaṃ kṛtaṃ, iyaṃ ca pratijñā kṛtā—“asuraśreṣṭha! na tvāṃ kliṣṭena āyudhena haniṣyāmi, na śuṣkeṇa; na divā, na rātrau; sakhe! satyena śapathena tvām etad bravīmi” |

Translation

“Ta sẽ giết ngươi, hỡi bậc tối thượng trong loài A-tu-la—bạn hữu, ta thề bởi Chân lý.” Đây là chuyện thuở trước: Namuci vì sợ Indra nên hòa mình vào những tia nắng mặt trời. Khi ấy Indra kết giao với hắn và lập lời thệ: “Hỡi A-tu-la tối thượng, ta sẽ không giết ngươi bằng vũ khí ướt, cũng không bằng vũ khí khô; không giết ban ngày, cũng không giết ban đêm. Bạn hữu, ta nói điều này dưới lời thề của Chân lý.”
