Adhyāya 33: Rauhiṇeya (Balarāma) is welcomed and takes his seat to witness the gadā-engagement
द्रौपदी च परिक्लिष्टा सभामध्ये रजस्वला । द्यूते यद् विजितो राजा शकुनेरबुद्धिनिश्चयात्
draūpadī ca parikliṣṭā sabhāmadhye rajasvalā | dyūte yad vijito rājā śakuner abuddhiniścayāt ||
Sañjaya nói: «Và Draupadī, đang khổ sở và trong kỳ nguyệt sự, đã bị làm nhục giữa triều đình; còn đức vua (Yudhiṣṭhira) thì bị đánh bại trong ván xúc xắc bởi mưu tính hiểm độc của Śakuni. Hãy nhìn hôm nay bằng chính mắt ngươi quả báo nặng nề, điềm dữ của những điều ấy—ngươi đã khiến Draupadī chịu khổ giữa đại điện, đã gian trá thắng vua theo lời xúi giục của Śakuni, và còn gây thêm bao tội lỗi, bạo ngược đối với các con vô tội của Pāṇḍu.»
