Resolve for the Mace Duel

तमुत्तीर्ण महाबाहुं गदाहस्तमरिंदमम्‌ | मेनिरे सर्वभूतानि दण्डपाणिमिवान्तकम्‌

tam uttīrṇaṁ mahābāhuṁ gadāhastam ariṁdamam | menire sarvabhūtāni daṇḍapāṇim ivāntakam ||

Sañjaya nói: Khi vị anh hùng tay dài ấy trồi lên (khỏi nước), chùy trong tay, kẻ nghiền nát quân thù, muôn loài đều ngỡ chàng như Yama—Chúa tể Tử thần—hiện ra với trượng trong tay. Cảnh tượng ấy đẩy cao căng thẳng đạo lý của chiến tranh: chỉ một chiến sĩ, với cơn giận và ý chí, cũng có thể phủ bóng kinh hoàng lên thế gian, khi bạo lực mang dáng vẻ uy nghi của sự báo ứng vũ trụ.
