नास्ति वै जातित:ः शत्रु: पुरुषस्य विशाम्पते । येन साधारणी वृत्ति: स शत्रुर्नेतरो जन:
nāsti vai jātitaḥ śatruḥ puruṣasya viśāmpate | yena sādhāraṇī vṛttiḥ sa śatrur netaro janaḥ ||
Duryodhana nói: “Hỡi chúa tể của muôn dân, con người không có kẻ thù chỉ vì sinh ra. Kẻ trở thành thù địch chính là người cùng chung kế sinh nhai, cùng một lĩnh vực hoạt động—những kẻ sống bằng cùng một phương cách sẽ thành đối thủ, vì ganh tị mà hóa thù; còn người khác thì không.”
